Early Life

Koo Hye-sun was born on November 9, 1984. At present, this actress’s age is 38 years old and her sun sign is Scorpio. Her birthplace is Incheon, South Korea. Koo is the second-born child of her parents. She developed a liking for music and dreamed of becoming a singer during her early years.

Hye-sun was termed as ‘ulzzang’ which means good-looking, and hence many of the modeling agencies approached her. Ku enrolled herself as a trainee under SM Entertainment and later moved to DSP Media to become part of a three-member girl group named ‘Ria’.

Similarly, after the idea of making her debut with the musical group failed, she signed a contract with YG Entertainment, an event management and modeling agency. Then, this personality decided to go ahead with her acting career, and thus her career in films took off.

Before making her debut with the KBS horror series ‘Anagram’, she did a commercial for Sambo computers. Initially, this personality did a few minor roles in some one-act dramas. Moreover, her debut directorial venture came in the form of a short film titled ‘The Madonna’, which was screened at the 2009 Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival. In the following year, she directed her first feature film, ‘Magic’.

After two years, she set up her production house, Ku Hye-sun Films, and ‘The Peach Tree’ was the first film made under it. Also, she composed the theme song for it and later released its novel version. Apart from her acting and directorial works, this personality has been an ambassador for many brands and activities. This actress released her first illustrated novel ‘Tango’ in 2009 which became a bestseller.

In the same year, Ku organized an art exhibition in which many of her paintings, including some from her novel, were displayed. The beginning of the year 2015 was not favorable to her as KBS’s vampire drama ‘Blood’ received low ratings and her performance disappointed the audience. And, later in the year, she had to leave MBC’s weekend drama ‘You’re Too Much’, due to health reasons.

Moreover, ‘Tango’ is her first authored novel which also includes 40 drawings by her. Therefore, the novel was released on April 1, 2009. This personality released ‘The Peach Tree’ the novel version of the film with the same name in the year 2012. Ku has earned many awards and nominations for her different works.

Personal Life

This actress was in a relationship with her ‘Blood’ co-star Ahn Jae-Hyun since April 2015. Therefore, she announced it officially on March 11, 2016. And, soon after, they registered their marriage at the Gangnam district office on May 20, 2016, and got married on May 21, 2016. Moreover, instead of having a lavish wedding, they decided to make donations to Severance Hospital.

The couple appeared in the reality show ‘Newlyweds Diary’, which showed their life after their wedding. However, in August 2019, it was reported Ahn requested a divorce from Ku. Ku posted an image of text messages between her and her husband Ahn Jae-Hyun discussing divorce on her Instagram account on August 18, 2019.

And, another image was posted with a caption that explained she wanted to preserve her marriage, while Ahn did not. Moreover, the posts were later deleted. Hye-sun suffered numerous malicious comments on social media every time she criticized Ahn publicly. Similarly, Ahn submitted an application to the Seoul Family Court on September 9, 2019, for divorce from Ku, and it was delivered to Ku on September 18, 2019.

Additionally, Hye-sun revealed in an Instagram post on September 1, 2019, that she would be taking a break from the entertainment industry to resume college.
